The Beast in the Cellar. Chiller in which a series of violent murders shakes a quiet English village. As the story unfolds, a link emerges between the killings and something unseen that lives in. The howls died out after a few minutes, but I stayed behind to make sure the beast in the cellar didn’t somehow survive to run off into the night searching for a new place to hide. More than anything else, Beasts in the Cellar is a great look at how movies, both horror and “other” genres, used to be made, with special attention given to a man that really knew how to do.

Director Kelly made only one other film before his untimely death - NIGHT HAIR CHILD () - which, incidentally, I should also be watching fairly soon since I recently got a copy of it!/10(). Laymon is a brilliant writer, his book THE CELLAR is an excellent example of why.
